I went to London!

Way back in October, Susie, Grandpa Mike, and I went to London. It was a whirlwind trip as I flew to London on Friday, landed on Saturday morning, and flew back to Los Angeles on Tuesday. And yes, the flight was a vacation itself...10-12 hours in a seat to myself, with movies that just left the theatre that I didn't see, and free wine...it was awesome.

Susie and I shared a hotel room just off of Kensington Garden. We had some time for sightseeing before we met up with Grandpa Mike and his childhood and college friend Frankie for the world premiere of the new Bond movie, Spectre. So here are the top 5 highlights of my trip to London:

5) Tea - Susie and I found time for tea, and plenty of it. We didn't do a formal high tea, but we had plenty of tea, cream, and scones.

4) Finding things from Ellie's books - So Ellie has a few books that have images, characters, and reference things found in London's museums including the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, and the V&A (one of my favorite places on Earth). It was fun to run around the museums, as we really only had time to run through them, and find things that I recognized from Ellie's books and take pictures with.

3) Selfridges - We have always spent time at Harrods every London trip we make. This was the first time we went to Selfridges. And we found our way to Selfridges because Susie and I were looking for someplace to get blow-outs and do our hair for the movie premiere, and Selfridges had a dry bar. We also got a great deal getting our make-up done in their cosmetics area..with champagne. But before our appointments we wandered the store a little bit and loved the book area and the toy area. And our hair and make-up turned out pretty well.

2) Riding bikes across the city at night - So on Sunday night we all met for a concert of Bond music (only fitting) at Southbank Centre, across the Thames by the London Eye. After the concert, Susie, myself and some friends (the officiant at my wedding and his son) decided it would be fun to rent bikes and ride along the Thames. Well, a wrong turn and suddenly we were across the river by Parliament, and then we were in front of Buckingham, and through Kensington Gardens, and back at our hotel. It was insane and amazing.

1) The premiere - So incredible. The movie premiere was at Royal Albert Hall. We walked the red carpet. We met Q. We ate popcorn at the RAH. We saw a movie with the future King and Queen of England.

So there you have it. The top five highlights from an amazing trip to London.
