Urban Babies (Part 3)

So this is a winter edition of Ellie's adventures as an Urban Baby. What does one do on MLK day when daycare is closed, Ellie is tired of her house, its 17 degrees outside (the high today was 21), and the sidewalks are covered with ice and piles of snow? Well, if you are Ellie and LOVE the bus, you go on a bus ride.

Now that the sidewalks are slippery and the temperature has dropped below freezing, Ellie takes the bus to and from daycare most days. The bus stop is literally on the corner near our house and there is a bus stop just outside of daycare, it couldn't be easier (and now with the MBTA joining the 21st century, we can track buses and know, to the minute, when the bus will be at the bus stop).

Ellie enjoyed her field trip on the bus today, pointing out the "towers" (aka skyscrapers), cars and trucks, and other babies on the bus. She also watched the "birdies" and even asked to go shopping when she saw all the stores. She even commented on people's clothes (mittens, hats, and jackets). Ellie also will recite the alphabet when she sees written words on signs or in a book. She was nice to wave and say "bye-bye" when people got on or off the bus.
Ellie also likes to point out the snow. Thanks, honey. As if I forgot there are 5 foot tall piles of snow on the curb.

So, next time you find yourself trapped in your house with a toddler...riding the bus around town is a great activity. Especially if they love to yell, "YEAH BUS!"
