Well we are ready for summer!! Ellie has been having swim lessons twice a week for a few months at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center. She has really been progressing and is swimming on her own using the freestyle stroke. Usually Nick takes her to swim lessons, but last week I had the chance to take her and watch her swim.
She is taking group classes. There are 4 kids in the class and two teachers. First they start with floating, then kicking using a kick board, then practice "rainbow arms", aka as freestyle or the crawl and breathing, and then they are off. Ellie can swim to the center of the pool using a combination of freestyle and underwater gliding. She is starting to get the breathing on one side thing and her endurance is really improving. In the photos below, the lane markers behind her are at the center of the pool and she has already swam out there under the watch of her teacher. Not to brag or anything...but Ellie can swim the furthest in her class.
Good thing she has all this practice, her dad got her a kiddie pool for the backyard, just in time for the high temps!
